  • Worship and Music

We love music at GHBC! Music helps us to feel closer to God. It helps us express our love for him and to celebrate all of the good things He does for us. We have a Worship Team that helps us sing praise songs and hymns of the faith during our first service, and a Praise Team and Worship Band that lead us in praise and celebration during the second service. On occasion, members of both teams form a larger choir, leading us in special worship experiences.

Our Music Minister, Andrew Schnurr, is an accomplished bass player, soloist, and composer. Add to that combination a heart for ministry and a love of Jesus - well, we’ve got the best!

  • Children's Ministry

Are you looking for a place where your children will learn about God? And about how God works in our lives?

We have just the place! Our Bible study classes on Sunday are available for all children from Pre-Kindergarten through young adult. The children are taught about Jesus and God’s love for them using methods that are appropriate to their age groups. Bible lessons, crafts, music and games are some of the activities that children will experience.

Our nursery is open during the worship services. The nursery and child care are also available for most of the activities occurring throughout the week.

During the summer there are Vacation Bible School classes for school-age children.

All of our Nursery and child care activities are provided by qualified staff and our teachers are Bible-believing people with a heart for children.

  • Youth Ministry

This is a tough world in which to be a teen! Our Youth Ministries program exists to bring young people to Jesus and to help them live a committed, Christ-filled life. Our focus is on helping them to:

Grow upward in the knowledge and love of God;

Grow inward in love and fellowship with each other;

Grow outward in love, service and witness to the world-all to the glory of God

Bible studies, retreats, and annual participation in Spirit West Coast meetings are just a few of the many activities designed to achieve our goals.

Several of the young adults involved in our Youth Ministries program provide instrumental accompaniment to our morning worship services as the Valley Rock Youth Band.

Discipleship Ministry
Have you ever wondered what some people see in the Bible? Why they spend time reading it when they could be using their time for something else? We can help you find out!

Our Discipleship Ministry encourages, develops and equips us to grow in our spiritual life. This growth occurs through our adult Bible Studies on Sunday morning and during the week. We provide classes to help us understand some of the basic Christian beliefs. Currently, our weekly Bible study opportunities include Precept upon Precept, Experiencing God, and Growing in Prayer (a woman’s Bible study); and seminars on parenting, marriage, and financial management. We have opportunities for people who feel God has given them a place of ministry in leading Bible studies to be mentored in this activity.

Prayer Ministry
Prayer? Hmmmm. Does it really change things? Well, we believe it does. It is the communication link to our spiritual power source. Through prayer we learn what God wants for us and through prayer God hears what our concerns and needs are.

There are several types of activities we promote to encourage our church family to pray. The Prayer Chain is a group of people committed to praying for a specific need. They continue to pray until that need is resolved. Prayer retreats bring us together as a church family to learn about prayer and to devote time to listen to God talk to us. Prayer vigils are long periods of time throughout which people pray for a specific section of that time. The vigil becomes an unbroken chain of prayer.

As you can see, we really do believe in prayer!

Relational Ministry
People need other people. We provide many opportunities for people to connect with each other. Our Relational Ministries team arranges museum trips, progressive dinners, sports activities, retreats – you name it, they can provide it! These activities are always an opportunity to share with each other how God works in our lives. The men of our church meet once a month for breakfast and fellowship, a time to share concerns in light of God’s precepts.

  • Missions

Do you like helping people? Have you ever been on a mission trip? Our Mission Ministry staff is dedicated to helping us experience missions. Sometimes they provide experiences for us to help us learn about and then provide for the needs of our community, our nation and our world.

We have been involved in trips to Nicaragua, in work with Habitat for Humanity, in giving out food baskets and in providing Thanksgiving dinners.

The American Baptist Women, a mission support group in our church, meet on a monthly basis for fellowship, devotions, and to work on quotas given to us by the American Baptist area association. This is open to all women of the church.
